Claire’s interest and passion in health and well- being resulted in following a career in physiotherapy enabling and supporting patients to improve their health and function. After completing rotations at junior level Claire went on to specialise in respiratory medicine where she works as an advanced physiotherapy practitioner in chronic lung conditions.
Claire came to yoga in her late twenties after a running injury. With no previous knowledge or experience Claire tried a drop in session and from the moment she stepped on the mat the connection was there. Discipline and commitment saw daily classes and self- practice which led to a 200 hour teacher training programme here in Edinburgh in 2016. It was during this course that Claire met the teachers Yogacharya and Acharye Hema. In Janurary 2017 Claire went out to India to study at Atmavikasa School of Yogic Science in Mysore to undertake a 300 hour teacher training programme. This led to a further visit to the shala in September 2017 to study yoga therapy for six weeks (300 hours). It was during this course that everything fell into place and the blending of physiotherapy skills, medical knowledge and yoga came together and set the path for Claire’s passion in yoga therapy.
Claire continues to work full time in the NHS as well as teaching classes twice a week and providing one to one yoga therapy sessions.
