CAROLINE PHIPPS

ECY TEACHER

Caroline’s first experience of yoga was when a friend invited her to a retreat in the late 1990`s. Drawn to the practice through that weekend she began to attend Iyengar yoga classes. With her southern Indian heritage from her maternal grandmother, and the ‘om’ necklace her Sri Lankan grandfather gave her when she was18 months old, she realises now she was drawn to the practice of her heritage.

After having children, she completed a training in both children’s and teen yoga which led her to the one-year Foundation course with Yoga Scotland. She continued to study with them on their 500hr Teacher Training course and has since furthered her learning through Menopause Yoga. She has had the privilege of training with Donna Farhi and most recently completed a 100hr Yoga Teacher Training in Trauma-Informed Yoga & Embodied Social Change with Yoga for Humankind. Although trained in hatha yoga, she often incorporates somatic movement drawn from Feldenkrais and myofascial release into her classes.

Caroline lives in Edinburgh with her husband and three boys where yoga offers her peace and stillness amongst a busy family life.
