The Coalfields Regeneration Trust – Our River Leven Community Fund
The Coalfields Regeneration Trust – Our River Leven Community Fund. On Saturday 27th January 2024 the new Wellesley Parish Church Hall welcomed 25 projects who shared their project ideas which supported the aims of the Levenmouth Community Action Plan.
- Leisure and sport events that allow people to connect with their area or the River Leven.
- History and heritage projects.
- Nature, wildlife, food growing and foraging projects.
- Creative projects.
The projects, ranging from discovering local history, connecting communities with their environment, to leisure activities, will absolutely benefit the Levenmouth community. We are extremely excited to see these projects come into fruition. The award to ECY of £3848 will support us to extend our programme of yoga on social prescription out to Fife. This project aims to partner with Airlie Medical Practice in Methil, Fife to deliver 6 months of chair-based trauma informed yoga on social prescription.
We will offer chair-based yoga that people can be referred into by GPs, nursing staff and community link workers. Over time we would hope to identify someone in the community with an interest in yoga to take part in additional peer support training and become a peer volunteer for the class.
The project will build on our successful programmes in Craigmillar and Wester Hailes in Edinburgh where we have established yoga programmes on social prescription. We aim to offer 24 weeks of chair-based yoga that people can be referred into by GPs, nursing staff and community link workers. Our intention is to work towards setting up a sustainable continuation of the programme through bigger grant funding and to seek to create opportunity for those who attend the class to be supported to attend other community-based activities. This will be done in partnership with link workers and health care staff.
