WORKPLACE WELLBEING PACKAGES

At Edinburgh Community Yoga we are passionate about self-care at work and promote the benefits of regular relaxation throughout our city. Our approach, while based on yoga and mindfulness, is appreciative of the constraints of a modern world and is underpinned by a thorough understanding of the physiology and neuroscience of the stress response. We can help you and your employees to understand stress, create space for safe and supported discussion and offer practical strategies towards managing stress more efficiently.

Workplace Wellbeing Packages

We offer a range of programs all of which incorporate mind body practice to support good mental health and can be brought directly to your workplace. These can be compact and flexible enough to fit into a working day or can be incorporated into staff away days, CPD training or the like. We can also offer bespoke programmes that can be created to meet the specific needs of your organisation.

Classes

Classes are purely practical and will offer you the chance to experience a full, mat or chair based yoga class including breathing exercises, meditation and yoga poses. Classes can be organised for a time and day that suits you. Many of our clients run sessions first thing in the morning, at lunchtime or straight after work.

Workshops

Presentations are less practical and more educational, offering you the chance to delve deeper into the science, which under pins our work. We find if people understand why they need to learn to de-stress and how it easy it is they are much more motivated to do it!

Presentations

Workshops combine the practical with the theoretical. They are chair based but still offer the opportunity to experience the breathing, moving and meditating exercises we promote. The group will also have the chance to discuss the issues around stress in the workplace, and learn how stress affects us physiologically and why the approach we offer works.

Retreats

Retreats offer the chance to develop a deeper understanding of the issues around stress management away from the working day. They are interactive and informative but are also deeply restful and allow your team to really de-stress and clear their heads through a combination of practical classes, workshops and presentations chosen from the ones details below. These half or full day events include a healthy vegetarian lunch and a seated massage option. Perfect for staff development, team building or away days when you have a little more time to dedicate to your team.

We come to your workplace so we require you to have the space to host us. For mat based classes, each individual will be required to provide their own yoga mat. For presentations and workshops we will require the use of an overhead projector.

Investing in your wellbeing gives back to your community

Alongside our workplace wellbeing initiatives we work also in prisons, psychiatric hospitals, with military veterans, refugees, the recovery and LGBTQ community and women’s groups across Edinburgh. As a not-for-profit social enterprise all our profit goes back into the organisation to fund our outreach projects. Which means that your contribution makes a big difference.

Ways to get involved

MORE ABOUT EDINBURGH COMMUNITY YOGA

Lorraine Close is a nurse and yoga teacher who has an MSc in nursing research, with a research focus on junior doctor mental wellbeing. She also works for the Edinburgh Medical School, where she teaches clinical skills, including stress management to undergraduate medical students. She has many years experience promoting the importance of self-care in the workplace and presenting at national and international conferences on mental wellbeing.

Laura Wilson is the founding director of Edinburgh Community Yoga. She is an experienced yoga teacher and a yoga therapist specialising in mental health. Much of Laura’s focus is on stress reduction and emotional resilience. Laura has many years experience running yoga retreats and also promoting the importance of self-care in the workplace.

Supporting Laura and Lorraine are a team of experienced and skilled yoga teachers all of whom are all fully insured and professionally trained.
